HOW TO JOIN?
I AM A TEACHER
The Kids Dive educational programme has associated costs. Thus, regardless of the funding means of the school you represent, the support of the local City Hall is essential in order to facilitate access to the local swimming pools and transportation. Please contact us in order to arrange a meeting with the school. If you already have contacts in the local municipality, it will be beneficial to include a representative in the meeting scheduled with us. If you believe that the school you represent has the necessary infrastructure (swimming pools and transport) for the programme to take place, please contact us.
I AM A STUDENT
Kids Dive is not a spare time occupation. Thus, we do not accept individual registrations. We advise you to speak with your parents/caretaker or with your teachers.

Frequently asked questions
WHAT IS THE LOCATION OF THIS PROGRAMME?
Kids Dive is available anywhere in the country. The whole team, which comprises marine biology researchers and monitors, along with the respective logistics, is prepared to go to the designated location (e.g., city hall; municipal swimming pool or school). The only activity that has a fixed location is the visit to the Oceanário in Lisbon. In any case, we can always provide a virtual alternative to this visit. Do you want to promote Kids Dive abroad? WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF KIDS DIVE FOR CHILDREN?
Diving itself is an activity that became available to everyone decades ago. There are international standards that are followed, surpassed even, by this programme, as is the matter of maintaining a 1 instructor/1 student ratio. The dive itself does not go beyond a depth of 2 metres and the underwater activities depend on the student’s comfort in the water.
The diving school that implements this activity has all the necessary certifications and insurances, has a vast experience in programmes that involve children and has the appropriate equipment for them. Of all the programmed activities, scuba diving is surely one that requires more caution. However, if doubts persist, parents are very welcome to watch the whole programme and talk to those responsible.
DOES THIS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME IMPLY COSTS FOR THE PARTICIPATING ENTITIES?
We believe that the benefits of this educational programme largely outweigh the costs. The activities developed on Kids Dive involve the displacement of a team of about 10 people, including instructors with appropriate diving equipment, researchers and monitors from the APLM and Zoo with the logistics for the workshops.
The cost of the programme depends on the activities that each promoter intends to fulfil, so we suggest scheduling a meeting to clarify all doubts.
WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS ALLOWED PER PARTICIPATING ENTITY?
Our base proposal is 60 students per promoting entity, but there are no limitations per entity and therefore one may request the scheduling of several groups.
ARE THE PROPOSED ACTIVITIES TO BE CARRIED OUT IN FULL DAYS (MORNINGS AND AFTERNOONS)?
The only activity of this programme that requires a full day is the one that comprises the two workshops and the diving experience in the swimming pool enriched with learning activities. The remaining activities need only one morning or afternoon, depending on the specific activity and the school schedule.
